Hi there! Welcome to our very first post for NICUnited! Getting this blog and the associated Facebook page and group up and running has been a dream of mine since we were on our own NICU roller coaster. It is hard to believe that it has been 6 years since we were in the GHS NICU and at that point in time technology wasn't even close to what it is today. The only way I stayed in contact with people was through e-mail. I was able to search the Internet while we were there, but the resources were scarce. Now it is super easy to find pretty much anything you want! That being said, there still isn't a strong community of NICU families in the Upstate and no good way for families to make meaningful connections with other families that have similar situations. All preemies are not the same and every baby in the NICU is not a preemie. Our goal is to provide a way for families to connect with other families in the Upstate and have a place to go for resources and support.
SO.... Here we go!! We have created a Facebook page to post current topics that NICU families might be interested in. This page is for anyone looking for info or to share information with others. We also have a group that is for families only. We want this to be a safe positive place to share stories, ask questions, get advice, and make those important family connections. And most importantly SHARE us!!! The more families we have the better this effort will be for everyone!!
